Morena Baccarin’s Long Child Custody and Support Battle

Morena Baccarin’s Long Child Custody and Support Battle

Being a celebrity has its downsides. Morena Baccarin, famous for her character on the hit TV show “Gotham” and many other roles, has been fighting a long battle over her first marriage to Austin Chick for their child. Divorce and child custody battles can be tough for anyone, but when it is splashed across the world in tabloids and TMZ, it can make a very private issue public knowledge. Plus, this battle seemed to go on for an eternity, just finally getting resolution in recent months.

Two and a Half Years of Legal Battles

This long legal tug-of-war started back in July of 2015 when Austin Chick filed for divorce against Morena for irreconcilable differences. By November, the courts had ordered Morena to pay Austin $23,000 a month in child and spousal support. The divorce was made final in March of 2016, but that was just the beginning as the child custody, financial aspects, and support issues were far from resolved.

It took almost two years of battling with lawyers and the courts to come to a resolution. In the end, Morena agreed to shared custody of their son. The custody and support fight ended in January 2018, with Morena paying Austin Chick $5,000 a month in spousal support for one more year, and $3,500 in child support. This goes to show that the rich and famous also must go through the same lengthy legal battles as mere mortals, especially when it comes to child custody and support issues after divorce.
